On January 16, 2011, I returned to The American Innovator program to discuss Lean and The Quest Effect. Among other topics, we discussed Lean 2.0, American Lean culture, the danger of Lean orthodoxy, and the propensity to quest. I was critical of orthodox Lean but optimistic about Lean’s future.

My name is Randall Benson and I’m the author of The Quest Effect. When I’m not writing, I consult with leaders of organizations on organizational growth and development, particularly in the areas of business strategy, innovation (esp. process innovation), breakthrough initiatives, and transformation.
I’m also a partner in a small medical technology company, BioCast Technology, that grew out of a need that my hospital clients had for increased patient safety. We recently received a patent on a technology to detect unrecovered sponges left in patients during surgery. (Yes, it happens!)
